Lets take today's average of about 2000 people. Not that bad if even half of those people put the item up since you would get about 50 items and maybe a portion of the community interested in buying it. 42,000*0.25% is roughly 105 items if everyone one of those people opened 1 crate each from a pure stats standpoint.
Say that maybe 75% of the community is opening 1 case so you have a potential of 42,000 rolls. You get say 56,000 players in the case of TF2. Let's say that a drop is maybe 0.25% to get the rarest item (no specific item, just say an average rare ultra rare/rare item drop in a lot of games). Part of the problem with finding a rare item is the number of people playing as well. I'd really like to see the odds, whatever they may be, get some sort of an adjustment to increase your chances. Some may think this is an obvious conclusion, but without having a source of published odds to receive such items it's not something I had assumed in the beginning.Ĭan anyone share any info regarding odds of getting a precious skin? Obviously there is some sort of a dice roll involved, but in 50+ cases over the course of 5 months I have not gotten one firsthand. I am curious what the exact odds are though. Yes, this statement is all relative and I would still prefer the old format of buying a pack of 4 for 4.99 (of course!).

I'd estimate since this time I have purchased upwards of 50+ cases - I give myself an "allowance" every pay check to spend on things related to gaming and this has been my chosen game to invest in these past few months.įor those who were ever curious what is a "fair" price for a precious skin given the odds to getting them I'm actually surprised to say I'm finding the 25-30 USD price point most settle in at to be somewhat reasonable. Never more than 3 or 4 cases off the market and then obviously the corresponding keys. Since the community market went live last November I have purchased cases from time to time. To those, I respect your opinion/view on the subject, but I happen to enjoy them. First and foremost - I realize there is a portion of the community who doesn't care about skins.
